In spring 2011, undergraduate students proposed that the University Sustainability Council work toward reducing bottled water consumption on campus. The Sustainability Council created a Bottled Water Committee comprised of students, faculty, and staff representing many areas of campus. This committee examined the issue, surveyed the campus, and explored options. They presented recommendations to the Sustainability Council, including proposing bottle filling stations on campus. You can encourage your workplace, school, or community to install a water bottle refilling station by presenting the benefits of these stations and highlighting the positive impact they can have on the environment.

After a site survey has been completed, we can arrange for one of our specialist engineers to install your water cooler in an agreed location. It is important to consider access to a portable mains water supply and waste drainage nearby your proposed Bottle Filling Station site.

Generally speaking, people don’t like to pay for bottled water when they can have safe access to clean potable water and spend their money in other areas of your event. Each Quench Buggy unit is staffed by a trained Quench Buggy employee, which means that each unit is kept clean and running properly. At Refill we do more than just get people to use a reusable water bottle. We have a whole list of projects we’re working on to create a bigger impact on single use plastic. Your action quite literally counts & using a reusable water bottle daily is one of the biggest individual changes you can make.

The hydration station releases perfectly chilled water through a recessed dispenser that eliminates cross-bottle contamination with a fully touchless experience. Staff, trainers, and members can safely access FloWater’s Purified Alkaline Water with trace minerals and electrolytes with our gym water bottle filling stations to help keep their immune systems strong. Currently, there are 403 water bottle refilling stations (also known as Hydration Stations) installed at University Park and several at the Commonwealth Campuses. Strategic placement of these stations around the University mean that Penn Staters have easy access to clean, good-tasting water for their reusable water bottles.
